Data for Data

Access, extraction, and the postcolonial digital.

Digital access as unequal exchange

The project asks what people must give in order to participate in contemporary digital systems. Data, verified identity, language, money, and technical labour become conditions of access, while the resulting access often remains unstable, platform-mediated, and revocable.

The monograph develops Postcolonial Access Governance as a framework for studying this relation across infrastructures and everyday digital life. It extends my research on epistemic sovereignty, platform power, and the political conditions hidden by apparently universal systems.

Working title. Project materials also test the alternative title Governing Access: Unequal Exchange and the Postcolonial Internet.
